Keep your installation of Caduceus MMS up-to-date with automated updates
One of Caduceus core duties is the processing of data based on several code groups. Codes which describe services, diagnoses, facilities, injuries, perscriptions, et cetera form the common language upon which Caduceus and public services communicate data.
Stale codes is detrimental to the efficient operation of a medical practice. At best, payments may be refused; at worst, data corruption might cause difficulties when serving patients. The daunting task of keeping these codes current has normally been the domain of the MOA, who tirelessly slogs through tens-of-thousands of codes at a time.
Caduceus not only saves time initially entering these codes, but also when they are to be updated. No more checking and cross-checking ICD9s, fees, specialties and more: Caduceus downloads new code files from the medical servers, parses the code records and validates duplicates and errors. All within two to three minutes*.
Furthermore, when the government sends a new code schedule to our Support Centre, we immediately post a Master Code Update (MCU) notice on the Remote Message Server. When this notice is next received by the user, it will automatically instruct the Code Control to update the codes. With Remote Messaging and the Code Control Caduceus is endowed with autonomic intelligence.

To update one code group:
Start Caduceus and click the 'Main' menu. Choose the 'Code Control' menu. Select the pertinent code group from this menu. Enter your password. Click on 'Update This Section' to begin the update.
To update all code groups:
Start Caduceus and click the 'Main' menu. Choose the 'Code Control' menu. Select any code group from this menu. Enter your password. Click on 'Update All Sections' to begin the update.
To ensure that the latest codes are retrieved from the government servers, the Automatically use your provinces Internet or Dialup-based access system checkbox must be selected on the Online Access tab in the Administrative Settings window. Leaving this checkbox cleared will only process the code file downloaded the last time an update was performed.
